Navigating the Low Carbon Era: Steel Industry Challenges and Opportunities in developing countries
We are running a session “Navigating the Low Carbon Era: Steel Industry Challenges and Opportunities in Developing Countries” at Trade + Sustainability Hub in Abu Dhabi alongside the World Trade Organization's 13th Ministerial Conference.
Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Association Secretary-General S. Armagan Vurdu will moderate the session. Ugur Dalbeler (Deputy Chairman of the Turkish Steel Exporters' Association) and Veysel Yayan (Secretary-General of the Turkish Steel Producers Association) will evaluate uncertainties and opportunities that steel companies in developing countries face in transitioning to low carbon economy.
They will be discussing best practices in the steel sector, challenges in financing the low-carbon transition, the ways to improve circularity in the industry, “common but differentiated responsibilities” of developing countries, potential implications of EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and other carbon pricing tools, technology transformation, carbon intensity and subsidies.
We are delighted to invite you to our panel discussion which will take place on February 27, 2024 at TradeHub2024.
International Institute for Sustainable Development's Trade + Sustainability Hub will gather the international trade community for a series of conversations on the challenges of building cooperative trade policy that delivers for sustainable development.
