Cross-Sectoral Learning for Industrial Decarbonization: Building Türkiye's Low-Carbon Ecosystem
We are hosting a session titled “Cross-Sectoral Learning for Industrial Decarbonization: Building Türkiye's Low-Carbon Ecosystem” at the Trade + Sustainability Hub in Yaoundé, Cameroon, alongside the World Trade Organization's 14th Ministerial Conference.
Aydın Yılmaz (Deputy Secretary-General, Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Association) will moderate the session. Uğur Dalbeler (Deputy Chairman, Steel Exporters' Association), Aynur Ayhan (Board Member, Istanbul Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters' Association), Mehmet Kavaklıoğlu (Deputy Chairman, Electrical and Electronics Exporters' Association), and Nurettin Bayraktar (Head of Mineral Commitee, Istanbul Mineral Exporters' Association) will discuss industrial decarbonization from a cross-sectoral perspective.
Panellists will examine how decarbonizing industry requires coordinated action across interconnected value chains, particularly in sectors such as steel, aluminium, electrical-electronics, and mining. The discussion will focus on shared challenges, including fragmented policy frameworks, rising protectionism, evolving trade rules, high technology costs, and limited access to green finance. Speakers will highlight best practices from their respective sectors and explore pathways to improve circularity.
The session will also address key policy and economic dimensions, including the potential implications of the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and other carbon pricing tools for global trade and competitiveness, as well as financing constraints, technological transformation, carbon intensity, and subsidies. Industry leaders will share practical insights on how decarbonization efforts can enhance competitiveness and sustainability. Participants will gain a clearer understanding of integrated approaches to industrial decarbonization, identify opportunities to scale solutions across sectors, and discuss ways to better align policy tools for sustainable global trade.
We are delighted to invite you to join our panel discussion on March 28, 2026, at TradeHub2026. The International Institute for Sustainable Development's Trade + Sustainability Hub will bring together the international trade community for a series of conversations on building cooperative trade policy that delivers sustainable development.
