16-17 September 2026 | WTO Public Forum 2026 - Geneva
The Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Associations (İMMİB) took part in the WTO Public Forum 2026, held at the WTO headquarters in Geneva from 15 to 17 September 2026, by organizing two sessions within the Curated Conversations series, which was held for the first time alongside the Public Forum by the Geneva Trade Platform in partnership with the World Trade Organization. Designed as closed-door, invitation-only roundtable discussions, the Curated Conversations brought together representatives from the public and private sectors, international organizations and experts for focused exchanges on key issues shaping international trade. On 16 September, İMMİB organized “Trade Policy, Metal Market Imbalances and Decarbonization: Steel, Aluminium and Copper,” focusing on global market imbalances, changing trade policies, protectionist measures and the implications of decarbonization for the metal industries and international trade. On 17 September, İMMİB, together with the Electrical and Electronics Exporters' Association of Türkiye, organized “The New Map of Data and Future of Critical Minerals: Could Türkiye Become Eurasia's Safe Harbour for Data Centre Investment?” The session explored the rapid growth of data centre investments, rising demand for energy and electrical and electronic equipment, critical mineral supply security and the resilience of global supply chains, while also discussing Türkiye's potential role in attracting data centre investment and supporting more resilient Eurasian supply chains. Through these two sessions, İMMİB brought Türkiye's perspectives on industrial transformation, trade policy, critical minerals and emerging investment opportunities into focused international discussions taking place alongside the WTO Public Forum.
